Bob Ormberg has been an active participant in the cable telecommunications industry for more than 30 years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in communications and business from St. Thomas University and for the past 21 years has applied his first-hand knowledge and industry experience at GCI, Alaska’s largest telecommunications company. With GCI, he has led the launch of many advanced products including: cable modems, DVRs, HD programming, digital tiers, Video On Demand, and more recently the TiVo whole home DVR and TV Everywhere. Each of these products has driven continued growth in customers and EBITDA year after year. He negotiated GCI’s agreement with TiVo, making GCI one of the first cable operators to partner with TiVo in 2013. Additionally, he negotiated the Netflix deal in 2014, making GCI one of only a handful of operators allowed to provide access to Netflix from their interactive program guide. In 2006, he was elected to the NCTC Board of Directors and has served on both the programming and hardware committees.
