Jonathan Bullock is Executive Vice President of Corporate Development & Government at Hotwire Communications where he leads corporate strategy, finance and government relations. Jonathan was noted by Cablefax – the industry’s leading trade journal – as a Person to Watch in 2019 and, more notably, is the standing emcee of the Cheerwine Festival.
Jonathan is a well-regarded advocate for bridging the digital divide and jump-starting economic development through effective and sustainable broadband deployment. Jonathan frequently addresses national audiences like the International Economic Development Council, Emerge Americas and industry journals on these issues. In addition to advocacy, Jonathan directs corporate strategy for the nation’s fastest Internet Service Provider as it has deployed thousands of miles of fiber to over 200,000 previously underserved homes in the southeast over the past six years.
In North Carolina, Jonathan created a model that saved the City of Salisbury’s fiber network through a public private partnership with Hotwire. This model brings the City revenue positive – guaranteed revenue to the City of over a $1 million a year when it had previously been losing money – while bringing the residents and businesses in the City the advantages of a top tier provider’s experience, technology and pricing. For this model to be implemented, Jonathan ran a general election in the City of Salisbury where his measure won 82% off the vote. Last year, Hotwire deployed XGS-PON in Salisbury, making Salisbury the first city in the country with 10 Gigabit Internet to every home.
Jonathan is deeply involved in economic development issues in communities Hotwire serves and his projects include development of the Hotwire Technology Center in North Fort Lauderdale and the creation of a technology corridor around it – a move that garnered national press and led to growth of technology sector jobs in a previously industrial and struggling area.
